How dangerous can corrosion be?

Corrosion is a natural process that affects our metals. The oxygen contained in the water, air, etc, could have been combined with the different metals, particularly ferrous metals like steel.
The product of that process is the rust and the metal consumption. If we don´t take steps to stop, the process continues until the metal extinction. Keeping clean, painting, and electrostatic processes, like chroming, zinc plating, are the most common tools to preserve the metals.
We don´t want to bring a class of chemical or physical, just create consciousness of the risk of corrosion in safety parts. Corrosion on the rim wheel or spokes is not the same as corrosion on molding or ornament parts.

Unfortunately, the rust grows more where we can not see it. The wheels are the perfect example. The side that we can see normally is well, because we procure that they look beautiful, and we take care of the paint or chrome, and when they are wet, they can dry easily because of the sun or the atmospheric contact. On the other hand, inside the wheel, between the rim and the tube and tire, water enters or just appears by condensation. These humidities are so difficult to dry, and they become dangerous over time. The corrosion process advances from inside to outside, consuming the rim steel. The material thickness is increasingly smaller up to disappears. We are not exaggerating, sometimes we receive wheels with holes or the bead welding because it was separated the rest of the rim thus breaking the tire pressure and opening the rim. The rim´s incapacity to contain the tire.

If you are not sure of your rim condition, our recommendation is to check the rims with a specialist.
